Calm Was The Even, And Clear Was The Sky Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEF GHGHIFJF EKEKHDLF

Calm was the even and clear was the skyA
And the new budding flowers did springB
When all alone went Amyntas and IA
To hear the sweet nightingale singB
I sate and he laid him down by meC
But scarcely his breath he could drawD
For when with a fear he began to draw nearE
He was dash'd with A ha ha ha haF
-
He blush'd to himself and lay still for a whileG
And his modesty curb'd his desireH
But straight I convinc'd all his fear with a smileG
Which added new flames to his fireH
O Silvia said he you are cruelI
To keep your poor lover in aweF
Then once more he press'd with his hand to my breastJ
But was dash'd with A ha ha ha haF
-
I knew 'twas his passion that caus'd all his fearE
And therefore I pitied his caseK
I whisper'd him softly there's nobody nearE
And laid my cheek close to his faceK
But as he grew bolder and bolderH
A shepherd came by us and sawD
And just as our bliss we began with a kissL
He laugh'd out with A ha ha ha haF
