Ah, How Sweet It Is To Love! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD EFEGG HIJIKK LLMNN

Ah how sweet it is to loveA
Ah how gay is young DesireB
And what pleasing pains we proveC
When we first approach Love's fireB
Pains of love be sweeter farD
Than all other pleasures areD
-
Sighs which are from lovers blownE
Do but gently heave the heartF
Ev'n the tears they shed aloneE
Lovers when they lose their breathG
Bleed away in easy deathG
-
Love and Time with reverence useH
Treat them like a parting friendI
Nor the golden gifts refuseJ
Which in youth sincere they sendI
For each year their price is moreK
And they less simple than beforeK
-
Love like spring tides full and highL
But each tide does less supplyL
Till they quite shrink in againM
If a flow in age appearN
'Tis but rain and runs not clearN
