'Who affirms that crystals are alive 'A
I affirm it let who will denyB
Crystals are engendered wax and thriveC
Wane and wither I have seen them dieB
-
Trust me masters crystals have their dayD
Eager to attain the perfect normE
Lit with purpose potent to displayD
Facet angle colour beauty formE
-
Water crystals need for flower and rootF
Sixty clear degrees no less no moreG
Snow so fickle still in this acuteF
Angle thinks and learns no other loreG
-
Such its life and such its pleasure isH
Such its art and traffic such its gainI
Evermore in new conjunctions thisJ
Admirable angle to maintainI
-
Crystalcraft in every flower and flakeK
Snow exhibits of the welkin freeL
Crystalline are crystals for the sakeK
All and singular of crystalryL
-
Yet does every crystal of the snowM
Individualize a seedling sownN
Broadcast but instinct with power to growM
Beautiful in beauty of its ownN
-
Every flake with all its prongs and dintsJ
Burns ecstatic as a new lit starL
Men are not more diverse finger printsJ
More dissimilar than snow flakes areL
-
Worlds of men and snow endure increaseJ
Woven of power and passion to defyB
Time and travail only races ceaseJ
Individual men and crystals dieB
