A Caged Mocking-bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACCDD BEBEEFF GHGHHII JKJKLMM NONOOFF

I pass a cobbler's shop along the streetA
And pause a moment at the door step whereB
In nature's medley piping cool and sweetA
The songs that thrill the swamps when spring is nearC
Fly o'er the fields at fullness of the yearC
And twitter where the autumn hedges runD
Join all the months of music into oneD
-
I shut my eyes the shy wood thrush is thereB
And all the leaves hang still to catch his spellE
Wrens cheep among the bushes from somewhereB
A bluebird's tweedle passes o'er the fellE
From rustling corn bob white his name doth tellE
And when the oriole sets his full heart freeF
Barefooted boyhood comes again to meF
-
The vision bringer hangs upon a nailG
Before a dusty window looking dimH
On marts where trade goes hot with box and baleG
The sad eyed passers have no time for himH
His captor sits with beaded face and grimH
Plying a listless awl as in a dreamI
Of pastures winding by a shady streamI
-
Gray bird what spirit bides with thee unseenJ
For now when every songster finds his loveK
And makes his nest where woods are deep and greenJ
Free as the winds thy song should mock the doveK
If I were thou my grief in moans should moveL
At thinking otherwhere by others' artM
Charmed and forgetful of mine own sweetheartM
-
But I who weep when fortune seems unkindN
To prison me within a space of wallsO
When far off grottoes hold my loves enshrinedN
And every love is cruel when it callsO
Who sulk for hills and fern fledged waterfallsO
I blush to offer sorrow unto theeF
Master of fate scorner of destinyF
