Of The Rose Bush Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGG H IIJJKKCLAAMM

This homely bush doth to mine eyes exposeA
A very fair yea comely ruddy roseA
This rose doth also bow its head to meB
Saying Come pluck me I thy rose will beB
Yet offer I to gather rose or budC
Ten to one but the bush will have my bloodC
This looks like a trapan or a decoyD
To offer and yet snap who would enjoyD
Yea the more eager on't the more in dangerE
Be he the master of it or a strangerE
Bush why dost bear a rose if none must have itF
Who dost expose it yet claw those that crave itF
Art become freakish dost the wanton playG
Or doth thy testy humour tend its wayG
-
ComparisonH
-
This rose God's Son is with his ruddy looksI
But what's the bush whose pricks like tenter hooksI
Do scratch and claw the finest lady's handsJ
Or rend her clothes if she too near it standsJ
This bush an emblem is of Adam's raceK
Of which Christ came when he his Father's graceK
Commended to us in his crimson bloodC
While he in sinners' stead and nature stoodL
Thus Adam's race did bear this dainty roseA
And doth the same to Adam's race exposeA
But those of Adam's race which at it catchM
Adam's race will them prick and claw and scratchM
