Under The Surface Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DDEEDDFGHH

AY smile as you will with your saintly faceA
But I know the lineB
Of your guard is as weak as a maze of laceA
You may give no signB
And the devil is never far to seekC
And a rotten peach has a lovely cheekC
-
As they come in the stream I say to youD
The lives we jostle are none of them trueD
Who seeks with a lamp and glass may findE
A nature of honor from core to rindE
But woe to the heart that is formed so trueD
It may not reck and it still must rueD
The perjured lip and the bleeding vowF
God keep it blind to the things we knowG
To the ghastly scars for the leech's eyesH
And the occult lore of the worldly wiseH
