Two Lives Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEDF GHGHGIGIJKJL

TWO youths from a village set out togetherA
To seek their fortune the wide world throughB
One cried 'Hurra for the autumn weather 'C
The other sighed 'Winter is almost due 'C
One failed they said for he never was thriftyD
Returned to the village and laughed and lovedE
The other succeeded and when he was fiftyD
Had millions and fame and the world approvedF
-
But the failure was happy his smile a blessingG
The dogs and the children romped at his feetH
While from him who succeeded tho' much possessingG
The little ones shrank when they chanced to meetH
One purchased respect by his lordly givingG
The other won love by his loving waysI
And if either had doubts of his way of livingG
It wasn't the one with the humble daysI
They never knew it but both were teachersJ
Of deep life secrets these village youthsK
The one of a school where Facts are preachersJ
The other of a world that worships TruthsL
