The Cry Of The Dreamer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD AEAECDCD FGFHIJIJ IKIKCDCD

I am tired of planning and toilingA
In the crowded hives of menB
Heart weary of building and spoilingA
And spoiling and building againB
And I long for the dear old riverC
Where I dreamed my youth awayD
For a dreamer lives foreverC
And a toiler dies in a dayD
-
I am sick of the showy seemingA
Of a life that is half a lieE
Of the faces lined with schemingA
In the throng that hurries byE
From the sleepless thoughts' endeavourC
I would go where the children playD
For a dreamer lives foreverC
And a thinker dies in a dayD
-
I can feel no pride but pityF
For the burdens the rich endureG
There is nothing sweet in the cityF
But the patient lives of the poorH
Oh the little hands too skillfulI
And the child mind choked with weedsJ
The daughter's heart grown willfulI
And the father's heart that bleedsJ
-
No no from the street's rude bustleI
From the trophies of mart and stageK
I would fly to the woods' low rustleI
And the meadows' kindly pageK
Let me dream as of old by the riverC
And be loved for the dream alwayD
For a dreamer lives foreverC
And a toiler dies in a dayD
