NOW for the faith that is in yeA
Polander Sclav and KeltB
Prove to the world what the lips have hurledB
The hearts have grandly feltB
-
Rouse ye races in shacklesC
See in the East the glareD
Is red in the sky and the warning cryE
Is sounding 'Awake Prepare '-
-
A voice from the spheres a hand downreachedB
To hands that would be freeA
To rend the gyves from the fettered livesF
That strain toward LibertyA
-
Circassia the cup is flowingG
That holdeth perennial youthH
Who strikes succeeds for when manhood bleedsI
Each dropp is a Cadmus' toothH
-
Sclavonia first from the sheathingG
Thy knife to the cord that bindsJ
Thy one tongued host shall renew the boastB
'The Scythians are the Winds '-
-
Greece to the grasp of heroesK
Flashed with thine ancient prideB
Thy swords advance in the passing chanceL
The great of heart are triedB
-
Poland thy lance heads brightenM
The Tartar has swept thy nameN
From the schoolman's chart but the patriot's heartB
Preserves its lines in flameN
-
Ireland mother of dolorsL
The trial on thee descendsL
Who quaileth in fear when the test is nearO
His bondage never endsL
-
Oppression that kills the cravenM
Defied is the freeman's goodB
No cause can be lost forever whose costB
Is coined from Freedom's bloodB
-
Liberty's wine and altarP
Are blood and human rightB
Her weak shall be strong while the struggle with wrongQ
Is a sacrificial fightB
-
Earth for the people their laws their ownR
An equal race for allS
Though shattered and few who to this are trueT
Shall flourish the more they fallS
