A Tragedy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDD EAFGHHII

A SOFT BREASTED bird from the seaA
Fell in love with the light house flameB
And it wheeled round the tower on its airiest wingC
And floated and cried like a lovelorn thingC
It brooded all day and it fluttered all nightD
But could win no look from the steadfast lightD
-
For the flame had its heart afarE
Afar with the ships at seaA
It was thinking of children and waiting wivesF
And darkness and danger to sailors' livesG
But the bird had its tender bosom pressedH
On the glass where at last it dashed its breastH
The light only flickered the brighter to glowI
But the bird lay dead on the rocks belowI
