To The Grasshopper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDCECFGCB EEEHIJK

HAPPY art thou darling insectA
Who upon the trees' tall branchesB
By a modest draught inspiredC
Singing like a monarch livestC
Thou possessest as thy portionD
All that on the plains thou seestC
All that by the hours is brought theeE
'Mongst the husbandmen thou livestC
As a friend uninjured by themF
Thou whom mortals love to honourG
Herald sweet of sweet Spring's adventC
Yes thou'rt loved by all the MusesB
-
Phoebus' self too needs must love theeE
They their silver voices gave theeE
Age can never steal upon theeE
Wise and gentle friend of poetsH
Born a creature fleshless bloodlessI
Though Earth's daughter free from suff'ringJ
To the gods e'en almost equalK
