HASTEN thee KronosA
On with clattering trotB
Downhill goeth thy pathC
Loathsome dizziness everD
When thou delayest assails meE
Quick rattle alongF
Over stock and stone let thy trotB
Into life straightway leadG
-
Now once moreH
Up the toilsome ascentI
Hasten panting for breathJ
Up then nor idle beE
Striving and hoping up upK
-
Wide high glorious the viewL
Gazing round upon lifeM
While from mount unto mountN
Hovers the spirit eterneO
Life eternal forebodingP
-
Sideways a roof's pleasant shadeQ
Attracts theeE
And a look that promises coolnessR
On the maidenly thresholdS
There refresh thee And maidenO
Give me this foaming draught alsoT
Give me this health laden lookU
-
Down now quicker still downO
See where the sun setsV
Ere he sets ere old ageW
Seizeth me in the morassX
Ere my toothless jaws mumbleY
And my useless limbs totterD
While drunk with his farewell beamZ
Hurl me a fiery seaE
Foaming still in mine eyeA2
Hurl me while dazzled and reelingP
Down to the gloomy portal of hellB2
-
Blow then gossip thy hornO
Speed on with echoing trotB
So that Orcus may know we are comingP
So that our host may with joyC2
Wait at the door to receive usR
