Three Palinodias - 03 Rain And Rainbow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBAACCDDEEFFAAGGHI JKLLEG

DURING a heavy storm it chancedA
That from his room a cockney glancedA
At the fierce tempest as it brokeB
While to his neighbour thus he spokeB
The thunder has our awe inspiredA
Our barns by lightning have been firedA
Our sins to punish I supposeC
But in return to soothe our woesC
See how the rain in torrents fellD
Making the harvest promise wellD
But it's a rainbow that I spyE
Extending o'er the dark grey skyE
With it I'm sure we may dispenseF
The colour'd cheat The vain pretenceF
Dame Iris straightway thus repliedA
Dost dare my beauty to derideA
In realms of space God station'd meG
A type of better worlds to beG
To eyes that from life's sorrows roveH
In cheerful hope to Heav'n aboveI
And through the mists that hover hereJ
God and his precepts blest revereK
Do thou then grovel like the swineL
And to the ground thy snout confineL
But suffer the enlighten'd eyeE
To feast upon my majestyG
