The Spinner Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BA B C DC D E FE F G HG H I JI J K LK L M NM N

As I calmly sat and spanA
-
Toiling with all zealB
Lo a young and handsome manA
-
Pass'd my spinning wheelB
-
And he praised what harm was thereC
-
Sweet the things he saidD
Praised my flax resembling hairC
-
And the even threadD
-
He with this was not contentE
-
But must needs do moreF
And in twain the thread was rentE
-
Though 'twas safe beforeF
-
And the flax's stonelike weightG
-
Needed to be toldH
But no longer was its stateG
-
Valued as of oldH
-
When I took it to the weaverI
-
Something felt I startJ
And more quickly as with feverI
-
Throbb'd my trembling heartJ
-
Then I bear the thread at lengthK
-
Through the heat to bleachL
But alas I scarce have strengthK
-
To the pool to reachL
-
What I in my little roomM
-
Span so fine and slightN
As was likely I presumeM
-
Came at last to lightN
