I AM now what joy to hear itA
Of the old magician ridB
And henceforth shall ev'ry spiritC
Do whate'er by me is bidB
I have watch'd with rigourD
All he used to doE
And will now with vigourD
Work my wonders tooE
-
Wander wanderD
Onward lightlyF
So that rightlyF
Flow the torrentG
And with teeming waters yonderD
In the bath discharge its currentG
-
And now come thou well worn broomH
And thy wretched form bestirD
Thou hast ever served as groomH
So fulfil my pleasure sirD
On two legs now standI
With a head on topJ
Waterpail in handI
Haste and do not stopJ
-
Wander wanderD
Onward lightlyF
So that rightlyF
Flow the torrentG
And with teeming waters yonderD
In the bath discharge its currentG
-
See he's running to the shoreD
And has now attain'd the poolK
And with lightning speed once moreD
Comes here with his bucket fullL
-
Back he then repairsM
See how swells the tideN
How each pail he bearsM
Straightway is suppliedN
-
Stop for loO
All the measureD
Of thy treasureD
Now is rightP
-
Ah I see it woe oh woeO
I forget the word of mightP
Ah the word whose sound can straightQ
Make him what he was beforeD
Ah he runs with nimble gaitQ
-
Would thou wert a broom once moreD
Streams renew'd for everD
Quickly bringeth heF
River after riverD
Rusheth on poor meF
-
Now no longerD
Can I bear himR
I will snare himR
Knavish spriteP
Ah my terror waxes strongerD
What a look what fearful sightP
-
Oh thou villain child of hellS
Shall the house through thee be drown'dT
Floods I see that wildly swellS
O'er the threshold gaining groundT
-
Wilt thou not obeyU
Oh thou broom accurs'dT
Be thou still I prayU
As thou wert at firstT
-
Will enoughV
Never please theeF
I will seize theeF
Hold thee fastT
And thy nimble wood so toughV
With my sharp axe split at lastT
-
See once more he hastens backW
Now oh Cobold thou shalt catch itT
I will rush upon his trackW
Crashing on him falls my hatchetT
-
Bravely done indeedT
See he's cleft in twainX
Now from care I'm freedT
And can breathe againY
-
Woe oh woeO
Both the partsZ
Quick as dartsZ
Stand on endT
Servants of my dreaded foeO
Oh ye gods protection sendT
-
And they run and wetter stillA2
Grow the steps and grows the hailB2
Lord and master hear me callC2
Ever seems the flood to fillA2
-
Ah he's coming seeF
Great is my dismayU
Spirits raised by meF
Vainly would I layU
-
To the sideT
Of the roomH
Hasten broomH
As of oldT
Spirits I have ne'er untiedT
Save to act as they are toldT
