Dreaded Brama lord of mightA
-
All proceed from thee aloneB
Thou art he who judgeth rightA
-
Dost thou none but Brahmins ownB
Do but Rajahs come from theeC
-
None but those of high estateD
-
Didst not thou the ape createD
Aye and even such as weC
-
We are not of noble kindE
-
For with woe our lot is rifeF
And what others deadly findE
-
Is our only source of lifeF
Let this be enough for menG
-
Let them if they will despise usH
-
But thou Brama thou shouldst prize usH
All are equal in thy kenG
-
Now that Lord this prayer is saidI
-
As thy child acknowledge meC
Or let one be born in steadI
-
Who may link me on to theeC
Didst not thou a BayadereJ
-
As a goddess heavenward raiseK
-
And we too to swell thy praiseK
Such a miracle would hearJ
