The Maiden Speaks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

How grave thou lookest loved one wherefore soA
Thy marble image seems a type of theeB
Like it no sign of life thou giv'st to meB
Compared with thee the stone appears to glowA
Behind his shield in ambush lurks the foeA
The friend's brow all unruffled we should seeB
I seek thee but thou seek'st away to fleeB
Fix'd as this sculptured figure learn to growA
Tell me to which should I the preference payC
Must I from both with coldness meet aloneD
The one is lifeless thou with life art blestE
In short no longer to throw words awayC
I'll fondy kiss and kiss and kiss this stoneD
Till thou dost tear me hence with envious breastE
