The Drops Of Nectar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDEAFGAAHIAAA JCKL

WHEN Minerva to give pleasureA
To Prometheus her well loved oneB
Brought a brimming bowl of nectarA
From the glorious realms of heavenB
As a blessing for his creaturesC
And to pour into their bosomsC
Impulses for arts ennoblingD
She with rapid footstep hasten'dE
Fearing Jupiter might see herA
And the golden goblet trembledF
And there fell a few drops from itG
On the verdant plain beneath herA
Then the busy bees flew thitherA
Straightway eagerly to drink themH
And the butterfly came quicklyI
That he too might find a drop thereA
Even the misshapen spiderA
Thither crawl'd and suck'd with vigourA
-
To a happy end they tastedJ
They and other gentle insectsC
For with mortals now divide theyK
Art that noblest gift of allL
