Roman Elegies I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHBIJKLM

Tell me you stones O speak you towering palacesA
Streets say a word Spirit of this place are you dumbB
All things are alive in your sacred wallsC
eternal Rome only for me all s stillD
Who will whisper to me at what windowE
will I see the sweet thing who will kindle me and quickenF
Already I guess the ways walking to her and from herG
ever and always I ll go while sweet time slips byH
I m gazing at church and palace ruin and columnB
like a serious man making sensible use of a journeyI
but soon it will happen and all will be one vast templeJ
Love s temple receiving its new initiateK
Though you are a whole world Rome still without LoveL
the world s not the world Rome cannot be RomeM
