IN His blest name who was His own creationA
Who from all time makes making his vocationA
The name of Him who makes our faith so brightB
Love confidence activity and mightB
In that One's name who named though oft He beC
Unknown is ever in RealityC
As far as ear can reach or eyesight dimD
Thou findest but the known resembling HimD
How high so'er thy fiery spirit hoversE
Its simile and type it straight discoversE
Onward thou'rt drawn with feelings light and gayF
Where'er thou goest smiling is the wayF
No more thou numbrest reckonest no timeG
Each step is infinite each step sublimeG
-
-
WHAT God would outwardly alone controlH
And on his finger whirl the mighty WholeH
He loves the inner world to move to viewI
Nature in Him Himself in Nature tooI
So that what in Him works and is and livesJ
The measure of His strength His spirit givesJ
-
-
WITHIN us all a universe doth dwellK
And hence each people's usage laudableL
That ev'ry one the Best that meets his eyesM
As God yea e'en his God doth recogniseM
To Him both earth and heaven surrenders heC
Fears Him and loves Him too if that may beC
