Nemesis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBAAACAAD

WHEN through the nations stalks contagion wildA
We from them cautiously should steal awayB
E'en I have oft with ling'ring and delayB
Shunn'd many an influence not to be defil'dA
And e'en though Amor oft my hours beguil'dA
At length with him preferr'd I not to playB
And so too with the wretched sons of clayB
When four and three lined verses they compil'dA
But punishment pursues the scoffer straightA
As if by serpent torch of furies ledA
From bill to vale from land to sea to flyC
I hear the genie's laughter at my fateA
Yet do I find all power of thinking fledA
In sonnet rage and love's fierce ecstasyD
