WHAT pulls at my heart soA
-
What tells me to roamB
What drags me and lures meC
-
From chamber and homeB
How round the cliffs gatherD
-
The clouds high in airE
I fain would go thitherE
-
I fain would be thereE
-
The sociable flightF
-
Of the ravens comes backG
I mingle amongst themH
-
And follow their trackG
Round wall and round mountainI
-
Together we flyJ
She tarries below thereE
-
I after her spyJ
-
Then onward she wandersK
-
My flight I wing soonL
To the wood fill'd with bushesM
-
A bird of sweet tuneL
She tarries and hearkensN
-
And smiling thinks sheC
How sweetly he's singingO
-
He's singing to meC
-
The heights are illum'dF
-
By the fast setting sunI
The pensive fair maidenI
-
Looks thoughtfully onP
She roams by the streamletF
-
O'er meadows she goesQ
And darker and darkerE
-
The pathway fast growsQ
-
I rise on a suddenI
-
A glimmering starE
What glitters above meC
-
So near and so farE
-
And when thou with wonderE
-
Hast gazed on the lightF
I fall down before theeC
-
Entranced by thy sightF
