Joy And Sorrow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BA BC DC D E FG FH DH D I JK JL ML M

As a fisher boy I faredA
-
To the black rock in the seaB
And while false gifts I preparedA
-
Listen'd and sang merrilyB
Down descended the decoyC
-
Soon a fish attack'd the baitD
One exultant shout of joyC
-
And the fish was captured straightD
-
Ah on shore and to the woodE
-
Past the cliffs o'er stock and stoneF
One foot's traces I pursuedG
-
And the maiden was aloneF
Lips were silent eyes downcastH
-
As a clasp knife snaps the baitD
With her snare she seized me fastH
-
And the boy was captured straightD
-
Heav'n knows who's the happy swainI
-
That she rambles with anewJ
I must dare the sea againK
-
Spite of wind and weather tooJ
When the great and little fishL
-
Wail and flounder in my netM
Straight returns my eager wishL
-
In her arms to revel yetM
