Hatem Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH HJK

Locks of brown still bind your captiveA
In the circle of her faceB
I beloved sinuous tressesC
Naught possess that's worth your graceB
-
But a heart whose love enduringD
Swells in youthful fervor yetE
Snow and mists envelop EtnaF
Making men the fire forgetE
-
Yonder mountain's pride so statelyG
Thou dost shame like dawn's red glowH
And its spell once more bids HatemI
Thrill of spring and summer knowH
-
Once more fill the glass the flagonH
Let me drink to my desireJ
If she find a heap of ashesK
Say 'He perished in her fire '-
