In this noble ring to dayA
-
Let my warning shame yeB
Listen to my solemn voiceC
-
Seldom does it name yeB
Many a thing have ye intendedD
-
Many a thing have badly endedD
And now I must blame yeB
-
At some moment in our livesE
-
We must all repent usF
So confess with pious trustG
-
All your sins momentousF
Error's crooked pathways shunningH
-
Let us on the straight road runningH
Honestly content usF
-
Yes we've oft when waking dream'dI
-
Let's confess it rightlyB
Left undrain'd the brimming cupJ
-
When it sparkled brightlyB
Many a shepherd's hour's soft blissesF
-
Many a dear mouth's flying kissesF
We've neglected lightlyB
-
Mute and silent have we satK
-
Whilst the blockheads pratedK
And above e'en song divineL
-
Have their babblings ratedK
To account we've even call'd usF
-
For the moments that enthrall'd usF
With enjoyment freightedK
-
If thou'lt absolution grantK
-
To thy true ones everM
We to execute thy willN
-
Ceaseless will endeavourM
From half measures strive to wean usF
-
Wholly fairly well demean usF
Resting flagging neverM
-
At all blockheads we'll at onceF
-
Let our laugh ring clearlyB
And the pearly foaming wineL
-
Never sip at merelyB
Ne'er with eye alone give kissesF
-
But with boldness suck in blissesF
From those lips loved dearlyB
