Epiphanias Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAA BCDD EEFF GGHH IIFF JJKK FFLM NNAA

THE three holy kings with their star's bright rayA
They eat and they drink but had rather not payA
They like to eat and drink awayA
They eat and drink but had rather not payA
-
The three holy kings have all come hereB
In number not four but three they appearC
And if a fourth join'd the other threeD
Increased by one their number would beD
-
The first am I the fair and the whiteE
I ought to be seen when the sun shines brightE
But alas with all my spices and myrrhF
No girl now likes me I please not herF
-
The next am I the brown and the longG
Known well to women known well to songG
Instead of spices 'tis gold I bearH
And so I'm welcome everywhereH
-
The last am I the black and smallI
And fain would be right merry withalI
I like to eat and to drink full measureF
I eat and drink and give thanks with pleasureF
-
The three holy kings are friendly and mildJ
They seek the Mother and seek the ChildJ
The pious Joseph is sitting byK
The ox and the ass on their litter lieK
-
We're bringing gold we're bringing myrrhF
The women incense always preferF
And if we have wine of a worthy growthL
We three to drink like six are not lothM
-
As here we see fair lads and lassesN
But not a sign of oxen or assesN
We know that we have gone astrayA
And so go further on our wayA
