Cat-pie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGFGFHIHI IJIJ

WHILE he is mark'd by vision clearA
Who fathoms Nature's treasuresB
The man may follow void of fearA
Who her proportions measuresB
Though for one mortal it is trueC
These trades may both be fittedD
Yet that the things themselves are twoC
Must always be admittedD
Once on a time there lived a cookE
Whose skill was past disputingF
Who in his head a fancy tookE
To try his luck at shootingF
So gun in hand he sought a spotG
Where stores of game were breedingF
And there ere long a cat he shotG
That on young birds was feedingF
This cat he fancied was a hareH
Forming a judgment hastyI
So served it up for people's fareH
Well spiced and in a pastyI
Yet many a guest with wrath was fill'dI
All who had noses tenderJ
The cat that's by the sportsman kill'dI
No cook a hare can renderJ
