Book Of Suleika - Suleika's Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BA B C D D E ECFFGG

ONCE methought in the night hours coldA
-
That I saw the moon in my sleepB
But as soon as I waken'd beholdA
-
Unawares rose the sun from the deepB
-
THAT Suleika's love was so strongC
-
For Joseph need cause no surpriseD
-
He was young youth pleaseth the eyesD
-
He was fair they say beyond measureE
-
Fair was she and so great was their pleasureE
But that thou who awaitedst me longC
Youthful glances of fire dost throw meF
Soon wilt bless me thy love now dost show meF
This shall my joyous numbers proclaimG
Thee I for ever Suleika shall nameG
