Authors Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BA BCD EEFFFFG C CG

OVER the meadows and down the streamA
-
And through the garden walks strayingB
He plucks the flowers that fairest seemA
-
His throbbing heart brooks no delayingB
His maiden then comes oh what ecstasyC
Thy flowers thou giv'st for one glance of her eyeD
-
The gard'ner next door o'er the hedge sees the youthE
I'm not such a fool as that in good truthE
My pleasure is ever to cherish each flowerF
And see that no birds my fruit e'er devourF
But when 'tis ripe your money good neighbourF
'Twas not for nothing I took all this labourF
And such methinks are the author tribeG
-
The one his pleasures around him strewsC
-
That his friends the public may reap if they chooseC
The other would fain make them all subscribeG
