A Woman's Mood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

I think to night I could bear it allA
Even the arrow that cleft the coreB
Could I wait again for your swift footfallA
And your sunny face coming in at the doorB
With the old frank look and the gay young smileC
And the ring of the words you used to sayD
I could almost deem the pain worth whileC
To greet you again in the olden wayD
-
But you stand without in the dark and coldE
And I may not open the long closed doorB
Nor call thro' the night with the love of oldE
Come into the warmth as in nights of yoreB
I kneel alone in the red fire glowF
And hear the wings of the wind sweep byG
You are out afar in the night I knowF
And the sough of the wind is like a cryG
-
You are out afar and I wait withinH
A grave eyed woman whose pulse is slowF
The flames round the red coals softly spinH
And the lonely room's in a rosy glowF
The firelight falls on your vacant chairI
And the soft brown rug where you used to standJ
Dear never again shall I see you thereI
Nor lift my head for your seeking handJ
-
Yet sometimes still and in spite of allA
I wistful look at the fastened doorB
And wait again for the swift footfallA
And the gay young voice as in hours of yoreB
It still seems strange to be here aloneK
With the rising sob of the wind withoutL
The sound takes a deep insisting toneK
Where the trees are swinging their arms aboutL
-
Its moaning reaches the sheltered roomM
And thrills my heart with a sense of painN
I walk to the window and pierce the gloomM
With a yearning look that is all in vainN
You are out in a night of depths that holdE
No promise of dawning for you and meO
And only a ghost from the life of oldE
Has come from the world of memoryO
-
You are out evermore God wills it soF
But ah my spirit is yearning yetP
As I kneel alone by the red fire glowF
My eyes grow dim with the old regretP
O when shall the aching throb grow stillQ
The warm love life turn cold at the coreB
Must I be watching against my willQ
For your banished face in the opening doorB
-
It may be dear when the sequel's toldE
Of the story read to its bitter closeR
When the inner meanings of life unfoldE
And the under side of our being showsS
It may be then in that truer lightT
When all our knowledge has larger grownK
I may understand why you stray to nightT
And I am left with the past aloneK
