-
The wolves are prone to play the gluttonB
One at a certain feast 'tis saidC
So stuff'd himself with lamb and muttonB
He seem'd but little short of deadC
Deep in his throat a bone stuck fastD
Well for this wolf who could not speakE
That soon a stork quite near him pass'dD
By signs invited with her beakE
The bone she drewF
With slight adoF
And for this skilful surgeryG
Demanded modestly her feeG
'Your fee ' replied the wolfH
In accents rather gruffI
'And is it not enoughI
Your neck is safe from such a gulfJ
Go for a wretch ingrateF
Nor tempt again your fate '-
