The Two Mules Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFFECCGHHIJK KI

Two mules were bearing on their backsA
One oats the other silver of the taxA
The latter glorying in his loadB
March'd proudly forward on the roadB
And from the jingle of his bellC
'Twas plain he liked his burden wellC
But in a wild wood glenD
A band of robber menD
Rush'd forth upon the twainE
Well with the silver pleasedF
They by the bridle seizedF
The treasure mule so vainE
Poor mule in struggling to repelC
His ruthless foes he fellC
Stabb'd through and with a bitter sighingG
He cried 'Is this the lot they promised meH
My humble friend from danger freeH
While weltering in my gore I'm dying 'I
'My friend ' his fellow mule repliedJ
'It is not well to have one's work too highK
If thou hadst been a miller's drudge as IK
Thou wouldst not thus have died 'I
