Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDDEFCFGGHHD IIJJ

A
-
A stag by favour of a vineB
Which grew where suns most genial shineB
And form'd a thick and matted bowerC
Which might have turn'd a summer showerC
Was saved from ruinous assaultD
The hunters thought their dogs at faultD
And call'd them off In danger now no moreE
The stag a thankless wretch and vileF
Began to browse his benefactress o'erC
The hunters listening the whileF
The rustling heard came backG
With all their yelping packG
And seized him in that very placeH
'This is ' said he 'but justice in my caseH
Let every black ingrateD
Henceforward profit by my fate '-
The dogs fell to 'twere wasting breathI
To pray those hunters at the deathI
They left and we will not revile 'emJ
A warning for profaners of asylumJ
