The Sick Stag Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDEFDGHHGI JJJKKLLMMNNOO

A
-
A stag where stags aboundedB
Fell sick and was surroundedC
Forthwith by comrades kindD
All pressing to assistE
Or see their friend at leastF
And ease his anxious mindD
An irksome multitudeG
'Ah sirs ' the sick was fain to cryH
'Pray leave me here to dieH
As others do in solitudeG
Pray let your kind attentions ceaseI
Till death my spirit shall release '-
But comforters are not so sentJ
On duty sad full long intentJ
When Heaven pleased they wentJ
But not without a friendly glassK
That is to say they cropp'd the grassK
And leaves which in that quarter grewL
From which the sick his pittance drewL
By kindness thus compell'd to fastM
He died for want of food at lastM
The men take off no trifling doleN
Who heal the body or the soulN
Alas the times do what we willO
They have their payment cure or killO
