The Sick Lion And The Fox Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDDEEFFGHIFFIFFJF J

A
-
Sick in his den we understandB
The king of beasts sent out commandB
That of his vassals every sortC
Should send some deputies to courtC
With promise well to treatD
Each deputy and suiteD
On faith of lion duly writtenE
None should be scratch'd much less be bittenE
The royal will was executedF
And some from every tribe deputedF
The foxes only would not comeG
One thus explain'd their choice of homeH
'Of those who seek the court we learnI
The tracks upon the sandF
Have one direction andF
Not one betokens a returnI
This fact begetting some distrustF
His majesty at present mustF
Excuse us from his great leveeJ
His plighted word is good no doubtF
But while how beasts get in we seeJ
We do not see how they get out '-
