Mr Raven was perched upon a limbA
And Reynard the Fox looked up at himA
For the Raven held in his great big beakB
A morsel the Fox would go far to seekB
-
Said the Fox in admiring tones My wordC
Sir Raven you are a handsome birdC
Such feathers If you would only singD
The birds of these woods would call you KingD
-
The Raven who did not see the jokeE
Forgot that his voice was just a croakE
He opened his beak in his foolish prideF
And down fell the morsel the Fox had spiedF
-
Ha ha said the Fox And now you seeG
You should not listen to flatteryG
Vanity Sir is a horrid viceH
I'm sure the lesson is worth the priceH
