The Pitcher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHIJJGG KKLLMMKKKNNOO

THE simple Jane was sent to bringA
Fresh water from the neighb'ring springA
The matter pressed no time to wasteB
Jane took her jug and ran in hasteB
The well to reach but in her flurryC
The more the speed the worse the hurryC
Tripped on a rolling stone and brokeD
Her precious pitcher ah no jokeD
Nay grave mishap 'twere better farE
To break her neck than such a jarE
Her dame would beat and soundly rate herF
No way could Jane propitiate herF
Without a sou new jug to buyG
'Twere better far for her to dieG
O'erwhelmed by grief and cruel fearsH
Unhappy Jane burst into tearsI
I can't go home without the delfJ
Sobbed Jane I'd rather kill myselfJ
So here am I resolved to dieG
A friendly neighbour passing byG
O'erheard our damsel's lamentationK
And kindly offered consolationK
If death sweet maiden be thy bentL
I'll aid thee in thy sad intentL
Throwing her down he drew his dirkM
And plunged it in the maid a workM
You'll say was cruel not so JaneK
Who even seemed to like the painK
And hoped to be thus stabbed againK
Amid the weary world's alarmsN
For some e'en death will have its charmsN
If this my friend is how you killO
Of breaking jugs I'll have my fillO
