Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EFGG HHIIJJKK

AS WILLIAM walking with his wife was seenA
A man of rank admired her lovely mienA
Who gave you such a charming fair he criedB
May I presume to kiss your beauteous brideB
With all my heart replied the humble swainC
You're welcome sir I beg you'll not refrainC
She's at your service take the boon I prayD
You'll not such offers meet with ev'ry dayD
-
THE gentleman proceeded as desiredE
To get a kiss alone he had aspiredF
So fervently howe'er he pressed her lipG
That Petronella blushed at ev'ry sipG
-
SEVEN days had scarcely run when to his armsH
The other took a wife with seraph charmsH
And William was allowed to have a kissI
That filled his soul with soft ecstatic blissI
Cried he I wish and truly I am grievedJ
That when the gentleman a kiss receivedJ
From her I love he'd gone to greater heightK
And with my Petronella passed the nightK
