The Hare And The Tortoise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBA CCDDC EEFFE GGHHG IIJJI

Said the Tortoise one day to the HareA
I'll run you a race if you dareA
I'll bet you cannotB
Arrive at that spotB
As quickly as I can get thereA
-
Quoth the Hare You are surely insaneC
Pray what has affected your brainC
You seem pretty sickD
Call a doctor in quickD
And let him prescribe for your painC
-
Never mind said the Tortoise Let's runE
Will you bet me Why certainly DoneE
While the slow Tortoise creepsF
Mr Hare makes four leapsF
And then loafs around in the sunE
-
It seemed such a one sided raceG
To win was almost a disgraceG
So he frolicked aboutH
Then at last he set outH
As the Tortoise was as nearing the placeG
-
Too late Though he sped like a dartI
The Tortoise was first She was smartI
You can surely run fastJ
She remarked Yet you're lastJ
It is better to get a good startI
