The Fool And The Sage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCDDEFGG HCDIJJIDDDDJJ

A
-
A fool pursued with club and stoneB
A sage who said 'My friend well doneC
Receive this guinea for your painsD
They well deserve far higher gainsD
The workman's worthy of his hireE
'Tis said There comes a wealthy squireF
Who hath wherewith thy works to payG
To him direct thy gifts and theyG
Shall gain their proper recompense '-
Urged by the hope of gainH
Upon the wealthy citizenC
The fool repeated the offenceD
His pay this time was not in goldI
Upon the witless manJ
A score of ready footmen ranJ
And on his back in full his wages toldI
In courts such fools afflict the wiseD
They raise the laugh at your expenseD
To check their babble were it senseD
Their folly meetly to chastiseD
Perhaps 'twill take a stronger manJ
Then make them worry one who canJ
