The Dove And The Ant. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDE FFGHHGIJJIKK

A dove came to a brook to drinkA
When leaning o'er its crumbling brinkA
An ant fell in and vainly triedB
In this to her an ocean tideB
To reach the land whereat the doveC
With every living thing in loveC
Was prompt a spire of grass to throw herD
By which the ant regain'd the shoreE
-
A barefoot scamp both mean and slyF
Soon after chanced this dove to spyF
And being arm'd with bow and arrowG
The hungry codger doubted notH
The bird of Venus in his potH
Would make a soup before the morrowG
Just as his deadly bow he drewI
Our ant just bit his heelJ
Roused by the villain's squealJ
The dove took timely hint and flewI
Far from the rascal's coopK
And with her flew his soupK
