The Country Justice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGG

TWO lawyers to their cause so well adheredA
A country justice quite confused appearedA
By them the facts were rendered so obscureB
With which the truth remained he was not sureB
At length completely tired two straws he soughtC
Of diff'rent lengths and to the parties broughtC
These in his hand he held the plaintiff drewD
So fate decreed the shortest of the twoD
On this the other homeward took his wayE
To boast how nicely he had gained the dayE
-
THE bench complained the magistrate repliedF
Don't blame I pray 'tis nothing new I've triedF
Courts often judge at hazard in the lawG
Without deciding by the longest strawG
