The Ape Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDEDFGG HIHI

There is an ape in ParisA
To which was given a wifeB
Like many a one that marriesC
This ape in brutal strifeB
Soon beat her out of lifeB
Their infant cries perhaps not fedD
But cries I ween in vainE
The father laughs his wife is deadD
And he has other loves againF
Which he will also beat I thinkG
Return'd from tavern drown'd in drinkG
-
For aught that's good you need not lookH
Among the imitative tribeI
A monkey be it or what makes a bookH
The worse I deem the aping scribeI
