Rhyme Scheme: A BBCCDDEEFGHHI JJKLMMNNN

A
-
Beside a well uncurb'd and deepB
A schoolboy laid him down to sleepB
Such rogues can do so anywhereC
If some kind man had seen him thereC
He would have leap'd as if distractedD
But Fortune much more wisely actedD
For passing by she softly waked the childE
Thus whispering in accents mildE
'I save your life my little dearF
And beg you not to venture hereG
Again for had you fallen inH
I should have had to bear the sinH
But I demand in reason's nameI
If for your rashness I'm to blame '-
With this the goddess went her wayJ
I like her logic I must sayJ
There takes place nothing on this planetK
But Fortune ends whoe'er began itL
In all adventures good or illM
We look to her to foot the billM
Has one a stupid empty pateN
That serves him never till too lateN
He clears himself by blaming FateN
