When Jesus Left His Father's Throne Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJJJKLKL

When Jesus left His Father s throneA
He chose a humble birthB
Like us unhonored and unknownA
He came to dwell on earthB
Like Him may we be found belowC
In wisdom s path of peaceD
Like Him in grace and knowledge growC
As years and strength increaseD
-
Sweet were His words and kind His lookE
When mothers round Him pressedF
Their infants in His arms He tookE
And on His bosom blessedF
Safe from the world s alluring harmsG
Beneath His watchful eyeH
Thus in the circle of His armsG
May we forever lieH
-
When Jesus into Zion rodeI
The children sang aroundJ
For joy they plucked the palms and strewedJ
Their garments on the groundJ
Hosanna our glad voices raiseK
Hosanna to our KingL
Should we forget our Savior s praiseK
The stones themselves would singL
