The God of nature and of graceA
In all His works appearsB
His goodness through the earth we traceA
His grandeur in the spheresB
-
Behold this fair and fertile globeC
By Him in wisdom plann'dD
'Twas He who girded like a robeC
The ocean round the landD
-
Life to the firmament your eyeE
Thither His path pursueF
His glory boundless as the skyE
O'erwhelms the wond'ring viewF
-
He bows the heavens the mountains standD
A highway for their GodG
He walks amidst the desert landD
'Tis Eden where He trodG
-
The forests in His strength rejoiceH
Hark on the evening breezeI
As once of old the Lord God's voiceH
Is heard among the treesI
-
Here on the hills He feeds His herdsJ
His flocks on yonder plainsK
His praise is warbled by the birdsJ
Oh could we catch their strainsK
-
Mount with the lark and bear our songL
Up to the gates of lightM
Or with the nightingale prolongL
Our numbers through the nightM
-
In every stream His bounty flowsN
Diffusing joy and wealthO
In every breeze His spirit blowsN
The breath of life and healthO
-
His blessings fall in plenteous showersP
Upon the lap of earthQ
That teems with foliage fruit and flowersP
And rings with infant mirthQ
-
If God hath made this world so fairR
Where sin and death aboundS
How beautiful beyond compareR
Will paradise be foundS
