Welcome welcome little strangerA
Welcome to my lone retreatB
Here secure from every dangerA
Hop about and chirp and eatB
Robin how I envy theeC
Happy child of libertyC
-
Hunger never shall distress theeC
While my meals one crumb affordD
Colds and cramps shall ne'er oppress theeC
Come and share my humble boardD
Robin come and live with meC
Live yet still at libertyC
-
Soon shall spring with smiles and blushesE
Steal upon the blooming yearF
Then amid the verdant bushesE
Thy sweet song shall warble clearF
Then shall I too joined with theeC
Taste the sweets of libertyC
-
Should some rough unfeeling DobbinG
In this iron hearted ageH
Seize thee on thy nest my robinI
And confine thee in a cageH
Then poor robin think of meC
Think and sigh for libertyC
-
Liberty thou brightest treasureA
In the crown of earthly joysJ
Source of gladness soul of pleasureA
All delights besides are toysJ
None but prisoners like meC
Know the worth of libertyC
