The Field Of The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIHI JKLK IMIM NON

Sow in the morn thy seedA
At eve hold not thy handB
To doubt and fear give thou no heedA
Broadcast it o er the landB
-
Beside all waters sowC
The highway furrows stockD
Drop it where thorns and thistles growE
Scatter it on the rockD
-
The good and fruitful groundF
Expect not here nor thereG
O'er hill and dale by plots 'tis foundF
Go forth then everywhereG
-
Thou know st not which may thriveH
The late or early sownI
God keeps His precious seed aliveH
When and wherever strownI
-
And duly shall appearJ
In verdure beauty strengthK
The tender blade the stalk the earL
And the full corn at lengthK
-
Thou canst not toil in vainI
Cold heat and moist and dryM
Shall foster and mature the grainI
For garners in the skyM
-
Thence when the glorious endN
The day of God is comeO
The angels reapers shall descendN
And heav n cry 'Harvest Home '-
