Morning Thoughts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

What secret hand at morning lightA
By stealth unseals mine eyeB
Draws back the curtain of the nightA
And opens earth and skyB
-
'Tis Thine my God the same that keptC
My resting hours from harmD
No ill came nigh me for I sleptC
Beneath th' Almighty's armD
-
'Tis Thine my daily bread that bringsE
Like manna scatter'd roundF
And clothes me as the lily springsE
In beauty from the groundF
-
This is the hand that shaped my frameG
And gave me pulse to beatH
That bears me oft through flood and flameG
Through tempest cold and heatH
-
In death's dark valley though I strayI
'Twould there my steps attendJ
Guide with the staff my lonely wayI
And with the rod defendJ
-
May that dear hand uphold me stillK
Through life's uncertain raceL
To bring me to Thine holy hillK
And to Thy dwelling placeL
