Lord, Teach Us How To Pray Aright Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHIH JDJD KAKA

Lord teach us how to pray arightA
With reverence and with fearB
Though dust and ashes in Thy sightA
We may we must draw nearB
-
We perish if we cease from prayerC
O grant us power to prayD
And when to meet Thee we prepareC
Lord meet us by the wayD
-
God of all grace we come to TheeE
With broken contrite heartsF
Give what Thine eye delights to seeE
Truth in the inward partsF
-
Faith is the only sacrificeG
That can for sin atoneH
To cast our hopes to fix our eyesI
On Christ on Christ aloneH
-
Patience to watch and wait and weepJ
Though mercy long delayD
Courage our fainting souls to keepJ
And trust Thee though Thou slayD
-
Give these and then Thy will be doneK
Thus strengthened with all mightA
We through Thy Spirit and Thy SonK
Shall pray and pray arightA
